# Browser check

A free, account-free measurement of how a browser looks from the outside. Open the page and it
measures at once: no sign-up, no click, no cookie.

The headline figure is how many things give you away, not how coherent the browser is. A browser
can be perfectly coherent and still be recognised, which is exactly what happens to a scripted
Chrome: the browser is genuine, the control layer above it is not.

Contract version: chk-4. Every result carries it, and no shared result is ever
recomputed under a later one.

## What is checked

12 groups, 59 checks. Each group states one claim about the
visitor and is judged coherent, contradicted, held back or not testable.

| Group | The claim it checks | Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | which operating system this machine runs | 6 |
| Browser engine | which engine opened this connection | 4 |
| Browser version | which version of that browser this is | 2 |
| Time zone | which time zone this machine is set to | 3 |
| Languages | which languages this browser asks for | 2 |
| Display | what kind of display this is | 8 |
| Input device | what you point with | 1 |
| Machine | what this machine is | 4 |
| Rendering | what draws this page | 3 |
| Connection quality | what your browser says about your connection | 1 |
| Automation surface | whether this browser is being driven | 14 |
| Where the connection comes from | which network this connection leaves from | 3 |

## How a finding is weighted

Four levels. The heaviest one present decides how serious the result is; they do not add up,
because one impossible value says more than ten merely uncommon ones.

| Level | Reads as | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | names your tool | The value contains the name of an automation tool. |
| 3 | impossible on real hardware | No device reports this value, or two values contradict. |
| 2 | someone changed this | The value carries a trace of being replaced. |
| 1 | rare, but real | Uncommon and entirely possible. |

## What this page does not measure

It reads the browser, not the tool driving it. Typing rhythm, pointer paths and the structure of
input events belong to the second page: https://scalebrowser.net/ai-agent-check. Point an agent at that address
and it measures the agent itself.

## What is stored

No IP address, no cookie, no identifier for the visitor. Aggregate counts per measured value, so
the page can say how rare a value is. A shared report exists only when the visitor asks for one.
